Following a varied career spanning more than three decades both in New Zealand and overseas, Allen has chosen to invest in this county for his latest venture.

Upon his return from developing and eventually selling a successful business in the US, Allen sought a new career and opportunities for local investment. After significant research in New Zealand and overseas, Allen was convinced the luxury boat building industry was where he should focus his passion and energy.

Allen formed New Zealand Yachts Ltd in 2000. The company is commissioning the staged development of a 20 hectare site that covers a kilometre of Whangarei waterfront. Stage One is now complete and the Whangarei port is now on target to become a fully integrated super yacht facility. It will compete as a world market leader providing new-build super yachts ranging in size from 25 metres to 100 metres.

New Zealand Yachts wants to turn around the shortage of skilled boat building workers in New Zealand by establishing its own training scheme.
