Henry van Asch

Director, AJ HACKETT BUNGY

Henry van Asch

Henry van Asch is co-founder and director of AJ Hackett Bungy and in 1997 took over sole ownership and operation of the company's three sites in Queenstown and the clothing and design company AJ Gear.

In 1985 Henry met AJ Hackett who mentioned he had got into this 'rubber thing' and after months of rigorous bungy cord testing and establishment and implementation of the highest safety procedures, Hackett grabbed the headlines with high profile jumps.

Henry concentrated on crucial behind the scenes roles and refined the technical side of the company's activities. Henry shaped the overall image of the company and developed merchandising opportunities after the first two commercial sites opened at the Kawarau Bridge and Skippers Bridge, Queenstown.

After rapid expansion Henry took over the New Zealand operation while Hackett took over the international side of the business.

Henry van Asch was a founding member of the Adventure Tourism Council and was a director of the NZ Tourism Industry Association for two years.
