Ian Taylor
Managing Director, TAYLORMADE MEDIA Ltd
Ian has been involved in television and the media for over 30 years; as a musician, director and presenter and, most recently as founder and principal of one of New Zealand's leading multi media companies.
Ian founded Taylormade in 1989 as a television production company. It has since grown to become a full multi media company working in webdesign, CD Rom production, print and photograpghy, as well as television.
In 1990 Ian established Animation Research Limited. Using proprietary software developed in-house, Animation Research quickly established itself as one of New Zealand's leading computer animation companies, winning awards nationally and internationally for work such as the Bluebird Skiing Penguin, the Air New Zealand Flying Gannets and the ground breaking 3D America's Cup graphics.
In 1999 Animation Research Limited merged its sporting graphics technology into a new company, Virtual Spectator. Using technology developed entirely in New Zealand, Virtual Spectator produced the world's first live, 3D, interactive graphics coverage of a sporting event delivered over the Internet. Subscribers in over 150 countries watched the company's ground breaking coverage of the Louis Vuitton Challenger's Series and the America's Cup match.
In 2001 Animation Research Ltd was part of a consortium that purchased Terralink, the previously government owned mapping and surveying company. As interim CEO, Ian is involved in overseeing the transfer of many of the technologies developed by ARL and other consortium partners into the restructured Terralink International.
