Dr Keith Mackie
Chief Scientist, FOREST RESEARCH
Keith Mackie is Chief Scientist at Forest Research. He has been involved with "doing" research and managing research for the foresty, forest products, and energy sectors for over 20 years.
Dr Mackie has a PhD (Chemistry) from the University of British Columbia, and was awarded a David Henry Scholarship in 1984.
As a member of the Forest Research Executive Management Team, he holds a key role in the organisation. He also has responsibility for managing the relationship with the New Zealand and international science community. A significant aspect of his position involves interfacing with Government and industry agencies. Over the past two years, Dr Mackie has been actively involved with the development of a new R&D strategy for the forestry sector, responding to Government's science strategy for higher-risk RS&T. This is aimed at new products for forest-based materials, and managing processes to lift interaction at Forest Research.
