Ruth Harley

CEO, NZ FILM COMMISSION

Ruth Harley has been behind the production of New Zealand film, television and stories for the last twenty years. Since 1997 she has been Chief Executive of New Zealand Film Commission. Previous roles included heading independent production at TVNZ, establishing and managing New Zealand On Air and national media director for Saatchi and Saatchi.

Her passion for New Zealanders' stories is backed by her achievements in education. She holds a PhD from the Univerity of Auckland and is a former a Fulbright Scholar. Her commitment to the broadcasting and the arts were recognised in 1996 with an OBE.

As CEO Ruth has overseen the transformation of the New Zealand Film Commission. Her tenure has seen an increase in the number of films produced, revenue generated, size of the audiences and number of awards received by New Zealand filmmakers.
