Stephen McPhail

Stephen McPhail, is an executive director and Principal of Morel & Co Limited and heads up the corporate finance team. Morel & Co Ltd is an investment bank which specialises in technology companies. It helps people to buy and sell companies, arranges strategic partnerships, and assists with major negotiations.

Stephen's background is in the funds management, petroleum, and gold exploration industries as well as working for the investment company, Todd Corporation. In 1984 he co-lead the successful New Zealand Business Management Game team which defeated Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and Malaysia to win the regional competition. He was a founding director of gold explorer Highlake Resources NL which went on to list in Australia in 1996.

Since joining Morel & Co in 1997, Stephen has been involved in strategic partnership negotiations for technology companies seeking to expand internationally, equity raising, sale of businesses, acquisitions, valuations and company restructuring. He has also been a director of several technology companies.

Stephen's academic qualifications include an MSc from Otago University and an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management in Sydney.
